Morla is the most recent group to emerge from Bottlenote. Less than a year old, they have hit the ground running, already representing Ireland at 12 Points! 2009, performing at The Fold in St. Audeon’s church, several Bottlenote events and preparing for a new commission to compose and perform for Morla plus string quartet later this year. They also performed at The Bray Jazz Festival 2009 in The Mermaid and at the Foligno Jazz Festival opening for trumper icon Enrico Rava.

Focusing on a pared back tonal palette, reminiscent of ancient folksong traditions and coupled with quarter tone melodies and electronic soundscapes, Morla has a personal approach and sound which is all its own. Expect daring compositions, live processing and an insistence on meaningful improvisation. Visit their myspace page
