I Love Kassel:

As part of the Documenta Urbana workshop June 2007, wearing a T-shirt that reads 'I Love Kassel', the artist walked in the city centre asking passersby to take her photo with areas or things she liked in Kassel. This work focuses on the desire to present Kassel as a tourist destination even though quite a negative attitude exists towards the city. The work used the language of tourism, a T shirt in the style those found in New York, to link Kassel to this global tourist industry. Globalisation has created a situation where many cities around the world are becoming more and more similar. New York is also a city where the local inhabitants wear these T-shirts with pride. By creating this fiction for Kassel, the artist created a situation in which the residents and visitor of Kassel were confronted with their own opinion of the city.
