PORTAPATH is a public intervention, devised by Michelle Browne to highlight the lack of provision for cyclists in the redevelopment of Dublin City Centre. It challenges the viewer to consider how public space is designed and if indeed it satisfies the needs of its public. At a time when Dublin City Council are proposing a system of rented bicycles in the city, it is time to question the planning for such an eventuality. PORTAPATH shows the need for a safer option for cyclists in a city that claims to promote cycling while not providing adequately for it.
